Written by Sheree Driscoll
OWNER: CARLOS SACCHETTO From Junkyard Bound to Showstopper: Carlos Sacchetto’s 1965 GMC C10 Some classics are discovered in barns, others in old garages — but Carlos Sacchetto’s 1965 GMC C10 was rescued en route to the junkyard. Literally. While driving one day, Carlos spotted the truck strapped to the back of a tow truck. Something about it caught his eye. He flagged down the driver, made an offer, and for just $200, redirected its journey — not to the scrap heap, but to his shop, where a remarkable transformation would begin. Over the next seven years, Carlos poured heart, soul, and countless hours into the build. The result? A jaw-dropping blend of vintage charm and modern muscle. Finished in Porsche Indian Red, this C10 is impossible to miss. The interior complements the exterior perfectly, wrapped in a luxurious Grey and Red leather combo, offering both comfort and style. Under the hood lies a dependable SBC 350engine, mated to a 200 R Automatic Overdrive transmission, giving this truck both power and drivability. The drivetrain includes a 12-bolt 3:43 Positraction rear axle and 4-wheel disc brakes, offering confident handling and stopping power. It also rides on classic Smitty’s Retro wheels, giving it that perfect old-school stance. And Carlos didn’t stop at just looks — the C10 features A/C, power windows, power steering, and power brakes, making it a true cruiser for weekend fun and car show appearances. In fact, it has made its way to events like the Good Guys Show in San Diego and many local meets across Los Angeles County, where it’s proudly taken home multiple awards. This truck has even had its moment in the spotlight, featured in Sport Truck Magazine back in 2007. Carlos refers to the C10 as “My Redhead,” a nickname affectionately given by his wife — and it’s easy to see why. It’s bold, beautiful, and unforgettable. While the 1965 GMC C10 holds a special place in his garage, Carlos is no stranger to vintage rides. His collection also includes a 1963 Ford Falcon, a 1947 Ford Convertible, and even a 1947 N9 Ford Tractor — all showcasing his love for restoring and preserving classic Americana. Congratulations to Carlos Sacchetto and his stunning GMC C10 — a true testament to vision, patience, and passion. From the brink of the scrapyard to Car of the Month — what a ride! |
