OCTOBER 2026 - CAR OF THE MONTH STORY – DENO BORGHI'S 1990 FERRARI TESTOAROSSA

Some cars you go out and buy. Others are worth waiting for—and Deno Borghi waited five years for his!

Deno’s beautiful red 1990 Ferrari Testarossa came after five years on a waiting list and a non-refundable deposit. When his turn finally came, the Ferrari carried a price tag of about $144,000. More than three decades later, Deno still owns it, still drives it, and still enjoys everything that made him want one in the first place.

Finished in unmistakable Ferrari red, the Testarossa features a handsome tan and chocolate-brown leather interior. Behind the seats is Ferrari’s legendary 12-cylinder engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It’s a combination that makes the Testarossa just as exciting to hear as it is to see.

And this Ferrari hasn’t spent its life sitting in the garage. Deno gets it out about three times a month just for fun. He’s taken it on beach trips through Orange County, out for drives, and even out dancing. After 34 years, the Ferrari continues to be a car meant to be enjoyed.

One of Deno’s favorite memories involving the Ferrari happened at an auto parts store. There was a pretty young woman working there, and Deno thought showing up in the Testarossa might make a good impression. She took a look at Deno and his beautiful Ferrari and gave him a response he certainly wasn’t expecting:

“Too bad you have to be so old to own one!”

It’s one of those funny little moments that Deno still remembers all these years later—and just one of many stories that come with owning the same special car for more than three decades.

A Car Guy Through and Through

The Ferrari is only one chapter in Deno’s long history with automobiles. His collection stretches across an amazing range of automotive history, beginning with vehicles more than a century old.

Over the years, Deno’s collection has included a 1908 wood wagon, 1914 Ford Speedster, 1921 Ford Touring Car, 1930 Ford Roadster Hot Rod, 1931 Ford Model A, 1935 Chevrolet two-door sedan, 1940 Chevrolet two-door Club Coupe, 1954 Studebaker truck, 1966 Corvette Sting Ray, 1970 El Camino that belonged to his dad, 1982 custom Harley, and a 1995 Harley motorcycle.

From early automobiles and traditional hot rods to Corvettes, motorcycles and an Italian exotic, Deno’s collection reflects a genuine appreciation for vehicles of all kinds and all eras.

But there is something especially remarkable about owning a car like a Ferrari Testarossa for 34 years. Deno waited five years for the opportunity to buy it, and all these years later, he’s still behind the wheel enjoying it.

That may be the best part of Deno’s story. The Ferrari isn’t simply something he owns—it’s a car he has used, enjoyed and made memories with for more than three decades.
