JUNE 2026 - CAR OF THE MONTH STORY – TONI RAMOS’ 1963 CHEVY CORVAIR

This month CAL-RODS is proud to feature Toni Ramos and her eye-catching 1963 Chevy Corvair, a unique classic that stands out everywhere it goes. Finished in a vibrant Orange and White two-tone paint scheme with a clean black vinyl interior, Toni’s Corvair combines vintage style with personal touches that make this car truly one of a kind.

Powered by a 2.7-liter 165 cubic inch flat-six engine and backed by a 4-speed manual transmission, this Corvair delivers a fun and nostalgic driving experience. The independent trans axle suspension helps give the car its distinct handling characteristics that made Corvairs famous during the early 1960s.

Toni found the car on Craigslist out in Joshua Tree and purchased it about five years ago. Originally built as a high school auto shop project, the Corvair already had some interesting custom touches when she found it. Since then, Toni has continued improving the car while keeping its classic personality alive.

One of the standout features is the upgraded lighting system using HID and LED components, along with custom rear taillights sourced from a 1960-61 Chevy Impala. The car originally came with 13-inch wheels, but Toni upgraded to stylish 15-inch Konig alloy wheels that give the Corvair a more modern and aggressive stance.

Although the Corvair is mainly used for car shows and weekend cruising, it has already made several memorable trips including drives to Oak Glen and Huntington Beach. Toni’s passion for classic cars doesn’t stop there either. Her collection also includes a 1975 Chevy Monza 2+2, plus future build projects including a 1955 Ford F100 and a 1976 Chevy Monza Coupe currently in the works.
