The red-hot Chevy coupe belonging to Howard Canter is our featured firecracker for July. Howard picked a 1940 Chevy because that is what he was driving when he learned to drive. Makes sense to me. Can’t give up those memories.
The car was bought in 2002 by a friend of Howards and was about 50% completed when the previous owner gave up on the project. His friend’s plan was to clean it up and flip for a profit. When Howard saw the car and told his friend he would like to buy it, his friend said he could have it for what he paid for it. Now that’s a friend.
Since Howard has had the car, he has done all the finishing touches including body work and paint, air conditioning, rewiring and instrumentation, upholstery, and much more.
Howard does like to drive the car. He’s been to Flagstaff twice, the car show at the fairgrounds in Bakersfield, car show in Pueblo, Colorado, to our show at Santa Anita, and lots of local cruises. No trailer Queen here. Hope to see it at all the CAL-RODS functions. Nice ride Howard!
