Ron & Georgette Pashby’s 1953 Chevy 3100 Pickup

As the year winds down and we cruise into the holiday season, CAL-RODS is proud to spotlight a classic that shines as bright as Christmas lights — Ron and Georgette Pashby’s 1953 Chevy 3100 pickup.

This stunning red beauty captures the spirit of classic motoring and the warmth of a good story. Ron came across the truck in a rather touching way — through an older lady at his church. Her husband had passed away, and the next generation didn’t share his passion for the old Chevy. Ron couldn’t let it fade away, so he purchased it from the family and brought it back to life, preserving both the truck and the memories behind it.

Under the hood, this pickup is all business. It’s powered by a rebuilt 350 Chevy engine, backed by a 700R4 overdrive transmission and a Camaro 10-bolt rear end with 3.70 gears and positraction. The American Mag wheels give it a classic street stance, while the grey and red interior adds just the right touch of comfort and color.

The truck’s first owner had already done some impressive modifications, installing a Camaro front clip, complete drivetrain, and converting it to a 12-volt system. Since taking ownership four years ago, Ron has continued to make thoughtful improvements — adding old-school air conditioning, a new 19-gallon fuel tank, and a complete American Wire Harness. Two years ago, the truck received a fresh coat of red paint, and it’s been gleaming ever since.

Though it’s not a daily driver, Ron and Georgette make sure their Chevy gets plenty of road time. They love taking it to car shows, photo shoots, weekend cruises, and even trips to the beach. Everywhere it goes, this classic draws smiles, stories, and admiration.

Before the truck, Ron owned a 1955 Chevy Bel Air for over 30 years, proving that his passion for Chevys runs deep. The ’53 pickup now carries that legacy forward — a perfect mix of nostalgia, craftsmanship, and pure driving enjoyment.
